Who we are

The Stables Project is an independent, non-profit making Arts and Education initiative based in York. We are affiliated with the Centre for Personalised Education Trust. (Charity No: 1057442).

Our vision is to support young people in becoming creative, confident, self determining adults in the global context of today’s world. We believe strongly in the unique potential of each human being.

What we do

Education

We work in partnership with young people (14+) helping them to develop their own ideas, passions and interests. Young people are guided through the process of designing and negotiating a full or part time programme of learning, in which they play an active and motivated part.Once ready to take their next steps in life we offer the students advice, encouragement and support. We have close working relationships with Connexions, Future Prospects and a wide range of other local and international contacts.

Art in the Community

The Stables Project runs a wide range of Community Arts projects. In the past these have included stone carving, willow weaving, mosaics, pinhole photography, performance, music and many more. Please visit our Community Arts section for a full timetable of current Community Arts Events.

Working on the Land

Since 2003 The Stables Project has been developing a derelict allotment for outdoor projects and ecological activities. Many students incorporate this work into their weekly timetable, and it is often host to workshops and events. It is our intention to create fertile environments of all kinds, for the development of the individual and the local community.
